About AWOL

Taylah Wallace, the passionate Director and visionary photographer behind "AWOL Photographs," has forged an incredible journey from the heart of adversity. Having served with unwavering dedication in units like 5 RAR, 1 AVN, 145 SIG SQN, and 1 CSSB as a private from 2007 to 2020, Taylah faced the harsh reality of medical discharge due to a debilitating back injury from the ADF. The battle didn't end there; his mental health plummeted. However, it was during this dark period that a friend introduced him to the art of photography, unveiling a new world of healing and creative expression.

Taylah's passion for nature photography bloomed like a vibrant wildflower. His lens became a tool to reconnect with the beauty of the natural world, a means to heal his wounded soul. With a remarkable blend of artistic vision and the discipline instilled by his military service, Taylah embarked on a journey of self-discovery and rediscovery, capturing the essence of nature's wonders in every frame.

We acknowledge the Bundjalung people as the traditional owners of this land. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present, and emerging. We are grateful for the opportunity to visit and learn from this land.

We recognise that Bundjalung Country is a living and breathing place, with a rich history and culture. We respect the Bundjalung people's connection to this land, and we commit to working with them in a way that is respectful and mutually beneficial.

We are committed to learning more about Bundjalung culture and history, and we will use our platform to raise awareness of the challenges facing First Nations people in Australia. We believe that it is important to acknowledge the past and work towards a more just and equitable future for all Australians.
